Although it starts off perhaps a bit boring, or unpromising, maybe even a bit too inner-city for some Sunday drivers, Bus. 98 develops into one of the most scenic urban routes Nature and man could render: from the somewhat generic junction with US 98 and Florida 390 in the west, Bus. 98 twist and turns along the coast of St. Andrews Bay, taking in some of older neighborhoods in town, cruising under oaks draped with Spanish moss, and into the heart of old downtown and the original tourist trade. The numerous salty dogs wandering the sidewalks are a reminder of what the true beach bum lifestyle entails and the fact that this is, after all, a city and not a paradise.
